Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program

The Uncompahgre Plateau was one of ten areas in the United States first chosen for this special program funded by Congress. Stakeholders from many groups, agencies and universities work together to develop plans to restore the health of the forest and watershed, reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires, combat invasive species, and improve wildlife habitat. In addition, the program has provided jobs for many local companies and even High School students through our Forestry Intern Program. To date, tens of thousands of acres have been improved.

Goal

To collaboratively enhance the resiliency, diversity and productivity of the ecosystems and wildlife on the Uncompahgre Plateau using best available science, community input and adaptive management.
